WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The VP, Retail is an experienced sales and account management executive with deep expertise leading the strategic development and execution of a multi-channel brand with multiple retail partners. Reporting to the CEO, the VP, Retail is accountable for driving our retail strategy and maximizing profit in each channel.

The ideal candidate has strong relationships and in-depth experience successfully working with global retailers such as Sephora, Ulta, and Amazon. Utilizing extensive experience in sales and account management, this leader will drive a product pipeline that works in tandem to support our hero SKU and DTC business.

Internally, this person will be a strong thought leader who drives cross-functional collaboration. They will manage a holistic view of all retail channels to create a pipeline that will best attract and support target consumers in each channel. Ideally this person will have a deep understanding of beauty and a natural connection with the Vegamour brand positioning.

We expect this leader to attend executive and strategy meetings at the Los Angeles based HQ. We have a preference that this candidate be based in LA, but remote will be considered for the ideal candidate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functional Leadership

  • Use deep understanding of Sephora and Amazon to create holistic account strategy that guides category priorities, pipeline, promotions, marketing campaigns, etc.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with retail partners
  • Serve as the key internal stakeholder for retail partnerships
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure retail and .com channels work to support each other
  • Ensure leadership team is informed on market insights, trends, and competitive landscape
  • Focus 40% of time on short- to mid- term retail strategy and budget allocation, 40% of time on field planning and execution, and 20% on long-term planning
  • Drive development of seasonal stock & sales plans for Amazon and Sephora
  • Lead sales planning, annual sales budget process, and 3 year strategic planning for key retail accounts
  • Own account level retail, gross shipments, returns, and other financial estimates for total brand performance with Finance and Marketing organizations

Functional Strategy

  • Use consumer insights to drive a multi-channel retail strategy
  • Create strategic sales plan for channel differentiation between DTC and various retail partners
  • Build and own the retail and promotion calendar
  • Ensure the brand is represented and executed in-store in brick and mortar and .com stores in all manners consistent with the brand's vision
  • Create and implement revenue and margin targets and required financial investment to achieve goals
  • Lead weekly sales analysis providing in-depth findings and recommendations
  • Recommend future opportunities for retail expansion and partnership opportunities

Execution

  • Deliver the retail sales and net sales on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Provide guidance to sales and demand planning teams and oversee the monthly stock & sales plan negotiation process
  • Work hands-on with internal and retail teams to drive orders and hit net sales targets
  • Develop high-level monthly re-projections and investment/disinvestment strategies by SKU/category

Systemic Leadership

  • Lead collaboration between channel leaders to create a seamless multi-channel experience
  • Collaborate and build strong relationships across Marketing, Operations and Finance teams
  • Direct account managers, retail marketing, and field team to support execution of strategic plan

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Business, Marketing or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
  • 12+ years of experience in subject matter or related field, strong credibility as a leader
  • Strong track record of building strategic relationships and influencing retail partners. Experience with Sephora required; preference given to candidates with experience developing and nurturing relationships with additional retailers (Ulta, Amazon, and boutique accounts)
  • Experience working for a beauty brand
  • Ability to lead teams through dynamic times of change and transformation
  • Exceptional team leadership skills, with the ability to embrace change and transformation
  • Experience working for a hair care brand preferred
  • Experience working at innovative, fast-paced startups or indie/digital brands is a plus

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Base Salary Range: $220K - $260K. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors including qualifications for the role and experience.
