About the job

ABOUT US

Speckle is the open source heart of data flows in the built environment. Our mission is to make the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry better.

Our Speckle team is fully distributed, mostly based in Europe, currently about 30 employees and growing. We embrace the unique opportunities that come with working in a distributed team, valuing flexibility, inclusivity, and open-mindedness. We get together at company retreats multiple times a year to have fun and bond.

Our ground breaking platform enables architects, engineers, and designers to collaborate seamlessly, connecting and exchanging data across all stages of a project's digital delivery.

THE TEAM AND THE ROLE

This is a unique opportunity to join a generational company in the making and have a substantial impact in its future success by tackling a key component of our platform: our data connectors.

Connectors are the key entry point for our users and almost all 3D data coming into the platform: they are the foundation through which Speckle communicates.

As the Technical Product Manager for Connectors, you will be responsible for the product strategy and for ensuring that projects are executed smoothly and efficiently, maintaining momentum and solving problems proactively. This role involves aligning with stakeholders, overseeing daily operations, coordinating with team members, and curating the backlog. The Technical Product manager ensures that tasks are on track, challenges faced by the team are addressed appropriately, and the team remains focused on delivering a high-quality delightful product.

Your impact is not limited to the above! In the Connectors team, complexity grows exponentially when we add new workflows: this is an intertwined technical and product challenge that will be your responsibility to manage. You will work closely with the founders to shape the mid and long term strategy, as well as tactically prioritize which workflows Speckle should deliver on next.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completely own the team's products and features, from ideation, through development, to launch, growth, and maintenance

  • Set the team's goals, success metrics, and roadmap to align with Speckle's mission

  • Regularly talk and engage with our users and customers to ensure their needs are accounted for and prioritized.

  • Manage complexity, both product wise: focus on an outstanding user experience and deliver on business needs as well as technical wise: be involved in technical conversations and get as hands on as possible to ensure complexity stays low and the team delivers high quality features

  • Mentor and guide team members, providing guidance, and support to foster their professional growth and development.

  • Collaborate with our Web and Growth teams to ensure seamless integration and communication

YOUR PROFILE

You are an experienced Technical Product Manager with a strong product sense, or you are a Product Leader with solid engineering skills. You are passionate about driving innovation, mentoring talented individuals, and transforming the AEC industry.

  • 6+ years of experience working on technical products; 4+ years of experience driving product vision and strategy in a high-growth tech company; 2+ years of experience managing people.

  • Deep knowledge of the AEC industry and the main software applications Speckle currently interacts with. In lieu of AEC experience: an extreme sense of curiosity and drive to unpack things into their first principles so as to foster and understand the industry context.

  • Extensive understanding of desktop software development and its implications when dealing with a plugin architecture like our connectors.

  • A bias towards action and bootstrapping major projects, rolling up your sleeves and being hands-on.

  • Experience developing and launching products from scratch.

  • The ability to provide insight and deliver measurable results for sophisticated products under ambiguous situations in a fast-paced environment.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, understanding the distributed nature of our company environment.

THE PROCESS

  1. You will meet our People&Talent Lead for a 30 min initial screen.

  2. Followed by 1h interview with our Engineering and Product Leads, focusing on your Technical Product manager skillset and past achievements.

  3. Then you will meet a broader panel for a Case study - up to 90 min call where we challenge you with a product and Speckle-related case. You will need to think outside of the box to resolve the product problem in real time.

  4. Wrap it all up with a 45 min meet&greet with our non-engineering team members.

WHY US?
